Terms of Service

These terms are the agreement between you and MoneyMate. They cover what the app does, what belongs to you, what we can and cannot promise, and what happens if something goes wrong. We have kept them as short and plain as we could.

Effective: 2 August 2026 Last updated: 2 August 2026 Applies to: MoneyMate for Android & iOS

1. Accepting these terms

By downloading, installing, or using MoneyMate, you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, please do not use the app — and if you have already installed it, uninstalling it ends the agreement.

Our Privacy Policy is part of these Terms. Read it too; it describes how the app handles your data, which is the part most people actually care about.

In these Terms, "MoneyMate", "we", and "us" mean the independent developer who builds and operates MoneyMate, based in Bangladesh. "You" means the person using the app.

2. Who may use MoneyMate

You must be at least 13 years old — or older, if the law where you live sets a higher minimum age for using an online service without parental consent. If you are under the age of legal majority in your country, you may use MoneyMate only with the involvement of a parent or guardian who accepts these Terms on your behalf.

You must also be legally able to enter into a binding contract, and not barred from using the service under any applicable law or sanctions regime.

3. What MoneyMate is — and what it is not

MoneyMate is a personal record-keeping tool. It lets you write down income and expenses, track money you have lent and money you owe, set budgets, and produce reports and PDF exports from what you entered.

Please be clear on this

MoneyMate is not:

  • a bank, an e-money issuer, a payment service, or any kind of regulated financial institution;
  • connected to your bank accounts, cards, or mobile wallets — it does not move, hold, or have visibility into any actual money;
  • an accounting system of record for tax or statutory filing purposes;
  • a lending, credit, or debt-collection service. The "lends and debts" feature is a private notebook. It creates no legal obligation on anyone and gives you no enforceable claim against another person.

Every number in the app is there because a human typed it. Its accuracy is the responsibility of whoever typed it.

4. Not financial advice

Nothing MoneyMate shows you — charts, budget warnings, spending summaries, savings meters, category breakdowns — is financial, investment, tax, accounting, or legal advice, and none of it is tailored to your circumstances. It is arithmetic performed on the figures you entered.

Decisions about your money are yours alone. For advice about your specific situation, please consult a qualified professional.

5. Your account

MoneyMate works with no account at all. If you choose to create one — to sync across devices or to survive a lost phone — then:

  • you must give accurate information and keep it current;
  • you are responsible for keeping your credentials and your device secure, and for everything that happens under your account;
  • you may not share your account, or let someone else use it as if it were theirs;
  • you should tell us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.

We strongly recommend enabling the in-app lock (PIN or biometrics). Your finances are exactly the sort of thing you do not want visible to anyone who picks up your unlocked phone.

6. Your data stays yours

You own everything you put into MoneyMate. We claim no ownership of your transactions, categories, notes, budgets, or any other content you create.

You grant us a narrow, revocable licence to store, transmit, and display that content strictly to the extent necessary to operate the features you have turned on — for example, to sync your records to your account or to write them into your Google Sheet. That licence exists so the app can work. It does not permit us to publish your data, sell it, analyse it for advertising, or use it to train models. It ends when you delete the data or your account.

You can take your data with you at any time: export a PDF report, or use Google Sheets sync, which places everything in a spreadsheet you own outright.

7. Backups are your responsibility

Important

In local-only mode there is no cloud copy of your data — that is the entire point of the mode. If you uninstall the app, wipe your phone, lose it, or use the in-app "close account" option, your records are gone permanently and we cannot recover them, because we never had them.

If your history matters to you, enable a sync mode or export PDF reports regularly. Even with sync enabled, we recommend keeping your own exports. We are not liable for data you lose, however it happens.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use MoneyMate for anything unlawful, including recording or facilitating fraud, money laundering, or the proceeds of crime;
  • reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the app, except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits it despite this restriction;
  • probe, scan, overload, or otherwise interfere with our servers, or try to gain access to accounts or data that are not yours;
  • use automated means to create accounts, submit deletion requests in bulk, or otherwise abuse our endpoints;
  • resell, sublicense, or commercially redistribute the app or any part of it;
  • remove or obscure any copyright, trade mark, or other proprietary notice;
  • store another person's personal data in the app in a way that breaches the law that applies to you — note that if you record someone's name against a lend or debt, you are responsible for that.

We may suspend or terminate access for a serious or repeated breach, generally after warning you where it is practical to do so.

9. Cost, donations, and subscriptions

The edition of MoneyMate published on Google Play worldwide is free to download and use, with no advertising and no paywalled core features. If we ever introduce a paid tier, existing features you already rely on will not be moved behind it without clear notice.

The app may invite you to make a voluntary donation to support development. Donations are exactly that — voluntary, not required for any feature, and non-refundable except where the law says otherwise.

Bangladesh edition

A separate edition distributed in Bangladesh through mobile-operator channels requires a subscription billed by your mobile operator. If you use that edition:

  • charges appear on your mobile balance or bill and are collected by your operator, not by us;
  • the subscription renews on the cycle shown at sign-up until you cancel;
  • you can cancel at any time from within the app or through your operator, and cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period;
  • refunds are governed by your operator's and the aggregator's policies; contact us and we will help you pursue one where it is warranted.

Purchases made through Google Play or the App Store are additionally subject to that store's payment and refund policies.

10. Third-party services

MoneyMate can connect to Google Sign-In and Google Sheets if you choose. Those are Google's services, governed by Google's own terms and privacy policy. We are not responsible for their availability, their behaviour, or changes Google makes to them — including changes that break a feature here.

Your Google spreadsheet lives in your Drive. What happens to it is between you and Google.

Separately from the app, this website loads Google Analytics so we can count visitors. What it collects, how long it is kept, and how to refuse it are set out in section 9 of the Privacy Policy.

11. Our intellectual property

The MoneyMate app, its name, logo, design, themes, and underlying software are ours and are protected by copyright and trade mark law. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the app on devices you own or control, for your own personal, non-commercial use.

That licence does not transfer any ownership, and it ends if these Terms end.

12. Feedback

We welcome bug reports and ideas. If you send us feedback, you agree we may use it to improve MoneyMate without any obligation to you, and without it becoming confidential. You keep any rights you already had; you are simply not charging us for the suggestion.

13. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the sync service running, but we do not promise uninterrupted availability. Maintenance, outages at our providers, network problems, and the general unreliability of computers all happen.

We may add, change, or remove features. If we discontinue a feature you depend on, or the service as a whole, we will give reasonable advance notice in the app and a way to export your data first.

The app itself keeps working offline regardless — even if our servers were to disappear entirely, local-only mode would continue to function on your device.

14. Disclaimer of warranties

MoneyMate is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, whether express, implied, or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the app will be error-free, that calculations will suit your purposes, that sync will always succeed, or that data will never be lost.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, and consumer protection law may give you rights that cannot be excluded. Nothing here limits those rights.

15. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, nor for lost profits, lost savings, lost business, or lost or corrupted data, arising out of or relating to your use of MoneyMate — even if we were told such damages were possible.

Our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to MoneyMate is limited to the greater of (a) the total amount you paid us for the app in the twelve months before the claim arose, or (b) USD 50.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.

16. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, losses, and reasonable legal costs arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the app, or your violation of any law or of anyone else's rights — including where you have recorded another person's information in the app.

17. Ending this agreement

You can end it at any time by uninstalling the app, and — if you created an account — by deleting it in Settings or through our deletion page.

We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms, if we are required to by law, or if we discontinue the service. Except where a breach makes it unsafe or impossible, we will give you notice and a reasonable opportunity to export your data.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination — data ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity, and governing law — do survive it.

18. App store terms

If you installed MoneyMate from Google Play, Google Play's Terms of Service also apply to that distribution.

If you installed it from the Apple App Store, the following applies as Apple requires: this agreement is between you and us only, not with Apple, and Apple is not responsible for the app or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any); to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple is not responsible for addressing any claim relating to the app, including product liability, regulatory non-compliance, or consumer protection claims. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you. You confirm you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.

19. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. The courts of Dhaka, Bangladesh have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute.

If you are a consumer resident in the EU, the UK, or another jurisdiction whose law guarantees you the protection of your local mandatory consumer rules and the right to bring proceedings in your local courts, nothing above deprives you of those rights.

Before starting formal proceedings, please email us. Nearly everything is faster to resolve in a conversation, and we would rather fix the problem.

20. General

  • Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us about MoneyMate.
  • Severability. If a provision is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force and the provision is read down to the minimum extent necessary.
  • No waiver. If we do not enforce something immediately, we have not given up the right to enforce it later.
  • Assignment. You may not assign these Terms. We may assign them to a successor if MoneyMate is transferred, on notice to you.
  • Changes to these Terms. We may update them; the "last updated" date will change and material changes will be announced in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use MoneyMate afterwards means you accept the update. If you do not, you may stop using the app and delete your account.
  • Language. These Terms are written in English. Any translation is for convenience; the English version governs.
